Today is a party! A Halloween party!!!
We are making Rice Krispy treats! This recipe kind of started as typical rice krispy treat and just went crazy from there. My neighbors brought over some pretzel M&M’s as a gift. So I threw them into the mix with the idea that something salty would jazz up the rice krispy treats. Then I went through the fridge and found some salted caramel sauce that needed to be used up. I threw that in too. Why not? It’s a party!
So behold, my new addicting creation was born.
It’s kind of a mouthful to say, but I promise you’ll love it.
Oh! And you don’t feel like you have to be left out of the party! Find great rice krispy ideas by clicking on some of the links below!
Sweet n’ Salty and Very Crunchy Rice Krispy Treats with Salted Caramel Sauce and Pretzel M&M’s
For the Rice Krispy Treats:
6 cups rice krispies
6 cups mini marshmallows
2 tbsp butter
1 cup pretzel M&M’s
For the salted caramel sauce frosting:
1/4 cup salted caramel sauce
2 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup butter, softened
2-4 tbsp milk (optional)
In a large saucepan, place the marshmallows and butter. Cook on medium low heat until marshmallows have melted and mixture becomes smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the rice krispies. Continue stirring until rice krispies are evenly coated in marshmallow mixture. Allow mixture to sit for several minutes to cool, then fold in the pretzel M&M’s. Press the mixture into a lightly greased 9×13 inch pan and allow it to cool completely.
While the rice krispies are cooling, make the frosting. In a mixing bowl cream together the salted caramel sauce, butter and powdered sugar. If mixture is too stiff, add one tablespoon of milk at a time until frosting becomes soft and fluffy. Spoon mixture into a plastic ziploc bag or a frosting bag. Snip the corner of the plastic ziploc bag off to frost.
Cut the rice krispies into squares and pipe a moderate amount of caramel frosting onto each bar.
Variation: Try straight salted caramel sauce on top. It’s equally delicious!!!
