Flower Bouquet For Teacher

On Monday, my kids were sad that they were only going to have two more days with their teacher and their friends before summer started.

To which they begged me not to take them out of school. For any reason.

They asked about doctors appointments, dentist appointments and orthodontist appointments that might be scheduled for their last few days of school. They didn’t want to miss any precious moment of school.

Sometimes it’s like my kids don’t know me at all.

Of course I want them to enjoy their last several days of school. Because it’s MY last several days of freedom too. Soon it will be driving them to friends houses, to the pool, to lessons, listening to them bicker incessantly, and complaining that they’re bored.

While I absolutely love having them home, I know that they miss the structure of school. And I do too.

As a gift for my son’s teacher, we made this beautiful flower bouquet for his teacher. It’s her first year, and we wanted her to have a reminder of that. It’s a simple and easy gift that she will remember all summer. It’s hard to find inexpensive gift ideas for teachers, but this one looks elegant with a small price tag.

FLOWER BOUQUET FOR TEACHER

1 flower pot

1 styrofoam circle

Spanish moss

Assorted scrapbook paper cut into dye cut shapes or flowers

Brads

#2 pencils

Arrange the styrofoam circle and spanish moss in the flower pot. On the back of each scrapbook paper, have the child write a message with their name to their teacher (use pen). Have them poke a hole in their paper with their brad, then push the brad through the eraser of the pencil to hold. (Depending on the child’s age, you may need to assist them with this).

Arrange the pencils in the flower pot and give the entire arrangement to your child’s teacher.

*The flower pot, styrofoam and spanish moss were found at Dollar Tree. The pencils were bought on a 1 cent deal at Office Max at the beginning of the year, the paper was 50% off at Hobby Lobby and the Brads were 40% off at Hobby Lobby with coupon.
