Every year my husband’s family packs up and heads somewhere for our annual family reunion. This year the adults got to have our own family reunion in Hawaii, but now it’s time for the kids to join us. This year we are heading to a mountain retreat in Brianhead, Utah.
The cousins are getting excited. With Grandma and Grandpa moving away this year and a couple of the cousins moving away, our central meetup spot has changed and we see less of each other. As the week’s grow nearer my kids are getting more and more excited.
Mom and Dad (aka Grandma and Grandpa) are in charge of breakfast’s, everyone is on their own for lunch and dinner assignments are divided up among us kids.
This year I wanted something easy and simple to serve for our night and this Oreo Dessert Pie is it. How could you go wrong with homemade vanilla ice cream, an Oreo crust and salted caramel sauce?
My sister in law was diagnosed with celiac this past year, so this was one of those easy adaptable recipes. KToos offers a gluten free chocolate cookie brand that tastes great. I’m planning on making her a small batch with the KToos for the crumb crust.
You could also use a storebought pie crust to save time but we love a homemade Oreo crust. You could also buy storebought ice cream or salted caramel sauce, but that’s up to you too. It’s great whether you use storebought or homemade.
