Restaurant Style Salsa

Salsa and chips are about as classic as it gets. I love sitting down and enjoying a bowl of our blueberry salsa, but a good old classic restaurant style salsa and chips  is just as good too.

Recently I’ve seen some really fun chip flavors popping up. One of my favorite brands of chips is from Food Should Taste Good. I love their multigrain chips and sweet potato chips and eat them with our chicken salad a lot during the summer.

I was sent a package in the mail containing Food Should Taste Good’s new Guacamole Chips and their classic Jalapeno chips. These paired perfectly together. The Jalapeno chips have a hint of heat to them and compliment most salsas. The Guacamole chips are made with cilantro, avocados and spicy serrano peppers. They are absolutely incredible by themselves. Head to your local Sprouts, Whole Foods, or grocery store because you won’t be disappointed. You can also find a $1 off coupon on their site.

I’ve toned down the salsa to make sure it’s not too hot and compliments the Guacamole chips perfectly. I’m not kidding you, these chips are outrageously good by themselves or with salsa.

Restaurant Style Salsa

Ingredients

  • 1 can (14-15oz) diced tomatoes, drained
  • 1 can (14-15oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 cans (14oz) diced tomatoes with green chiles
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and diced
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/4-1/2 cup cilantro, chopped (I am a cilantro lover and go with the max but if you aren't use less)
  • 1 tbsp lime juice

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, place all of the ingredients minus the tomato sauce. Pulse until salsa reaches your desired consistency. I pulse 15-20 times.
  2. Pour salsa into bowl stir in tomato sauce. Serve with chips.
  3. Refrigerate salsa for up to one week in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes

*We used Food Should Taste Good Guacamole and Jalapeno Chips * If not using spicy tortilla chips, you can up the amount of jalapenos you use to taste. * We always use low sodium canned products.
