Orange Roll Quick Bread

After a whirlwind week last week (finals, graduation, a wedding and more kids parties and school happenings than I can even remember!) I am ready to slow down and get in the kitchen to do some baking for neighbor gifts and friends.

This orange roll quick bread takes a morning favorite and makes it so easy! It takes just a few minutes to whip up and then you stick it in the oven and let the oven do the rest. Easy!

Our orange roll bread recipe has a rich orange flavor throughout the bread and is made healthier with the addition of greek yogurt. A crisp sugary orange topping covers the loaf and a drizzle of orange glaze adds a finishing touch. Your neighbors will love it and whether you choose to make muffins or a small loaf of bread for neighbors or a large loaf for your family you will love it!

Rating: 51

Yield: 12 muffins, 2-3 small loaves, 1 large loaf

  • 1/2 cup nonfat plain greek yogurt or 1 stick (1/2 cup butter), melted
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For the Topping:
  • 1/2-1 tbsp orange zest
  • 1-2 tbsp sugar
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted or 1 tbsp cream cheese, softened to room temperature

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a bowl, mix the bread ingredients together until smooth. Pour bread into lightly greased muffin pans, small bread loafs, or regular sized bread loafs.
  2. In a small bowl, mix topping ingredients together. Sprinkle evenly over the muffins or bread. Bake at 350 degrees 18-23 minutes for muffins, 30-35 minutes for small loaves, or 45-50 minutes for large loaves. Muffins and loaves are finished when toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove loaves from oven and allow to sit in loaf or muffin pan.
  3. While loaf is still hot and cooling in the pans, mix together the powdered sugar, orange juice and melted butter or softened cream cheese. Pour evenly over the muffins or hot loaves. Allow loaf to sit in the pan for an additional 10-15 minutes before moving to a cooling rack to finish cooling completely.
