You know those days that you just want to get home from work, slide off your shoes and park yourself on the couch for five minutes of uninterrupted time with no one bothering you?
Yeah, that soooo doesn’t happen when I walk in the door.
No, when I walked in the door on this particular day I was greeted to every single mug that our family owns piling up in the sink, on the counters and even one in the microwave with batter spilling over.
My teen was sitting in the kitchen with the last remaining mug in her hand, beaming.
“What did you do today?” (Seriously shouldn’t ask that, I kind of figured it out just by looking around).
“I made YOU a dessert!”
That little bit of anger boiling inside of me when I walked in and found every square inch of counter space consumed by flour, cinnamon, chocolate chips and other various baking ingredients just melted. The kids really know how to butter me up.
I expected the wrose but was really pleasantly surprised that the dessert tasted amazing. I love making it those afternoons I am starving. The kids can easily make their version, and I can make mine. And I love that my craving for something sweet can be fed in under five minutes. Score!
