I love ice cream but have YET to find a good chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream that’s non dairy. I’ve tried several flavors, had several of you write and recommend a few flavors but have yet to really try a flavor that tastes like the rich creamy chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream that was once my favorite.

I was given some vanilla Nadamoo non dairy ice cream and took a couple of spoonfuls but haven’t really done much with it since. It’s been sitting in the freezer. I’m going through my deep cleaning before school starts and the freezer was on the list. I know I’ve talked about my love for this ice cream. It’s coconut milk based but unlike other coconut milk based ice creams it doesn’t have that “coconutty” flavor to it like other brands do. So your mint chocolate chip ice cream actually tastes like mint chocolate chip ice cream! No coconut aftertaste!

Every Sunday during the summer we make homemade ice cream. This week the kids wanted chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. My mouth started watering. It was one of my favorite flavors and one that I first started trying to find an alternative for…immediately when I got sick. I pulled out the pint of vanilla and thought that maybe I could do something with it. The results…amazing!! This is the PERFECT hack!

Goldbaum Gluten Free Sugar Cones: Hurray!! I LOVE sugar cones and these are pretty close to the original. In fact, I snack on just the sugar cone sometimes and forget to put ice cream inside. I found these at Target and they were under $3! You can also order them on Amazon.

Nadamoo Vanilla-AHHH Ice Cream: If you live in Utah, you can find this brand at Harmons, or check their website for store locations near you or ways to order.

Gluten Free Non Dairy Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Hack

  • 1/2 cup gluten free flour (we used gluten free oat flour)
  • 5 1/2 tbsp coconut sugar or brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter, softened
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (we used Enjoy Life)
  • 1 pint Nadamoo vanilla-ahhh non dairy ice cream (or your favorite non dairy brand--just know that taste may be different than recommended brand)
  • Sugar cones for serving (if desired)

  1. In a bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Add in the flour, vanilla, water and chocolate chips, stirring until smooth.
  2. Roll the dough into thin rolls, then freeze for 1-2 hours.
  3. Soften the ice cream, then remove the dough from the freezer. Cut the dough into small bite sized pieces, then mix into the pint of ice cream. Serve. Ice cream can be refrozen.
