Nectarine Jam

Nectarine jam is all natural and delicious on a variety of different breads and treats!

nectarine jam

Everyday one of my neighbors is bringing our family some new treat from their garden. I’ve made mountains of zucchini bread, ate enough peaches and apricots that I might burst, and had enough grilled squash to last me a lifetime.

I love this time of year, especially my sweet neighbors who can actually grow a garden. Today I received some nectarines from my neighbor and was trying to figure out something that I could do with them.

Today this recipe comes courtesy of Claire from My Hobbie Lobbie. I’m highlighting Claire today as a member of the Secret Recipe Club. She has some amazing recipes and this one caught my eye to use up those nectarines staring at me from the counter. And if you’re going to make some nectarine jam, you might want to make some of these recipes of Claire’s to go with it:

Nectarine Jam

  • 4 pounds (1900gm) nectarines, washed, deseeded and chopped (skins on)
  • 5 cups (950gm) sugar
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 2-3 cinnamon sticks

  1. In a large saucepan set to medium heat, add the nectarines, sugar and juice of one lemon. Add in a couple of cinnamon sticks. Cook on medium, stirring frequently to avoid burning on the bottom of the pan and until jam reaches desired consistency.(This should take about 45 minutes).
  2. Turn off heat, remove pan from heat. Remove cinnamon sticks. Use a potato masher or immersion blender to have jam reach desired consistency. Allow jam to cool, than pour into clean mason jars. Cover and refrigerate for up to one week.
  3. **NOTE: I halfed this recipe and it turned out just perfect!

This jam sounds so delicious and easy. Nectarines are so plentiful here in the MidAtlantic US right now – a perfect way to use them and enjoy them into the cooler months of fall.
