So I’m getting the Superbowl menu ready for this weekend and decided to sneak in another recipe. I always like bringing in some of the old with the new. That way we’re not eating the same thing year after year. But some of the classics and our favorites will always stay. We tried this steak bites appetizer as a meal and they were delicious! Steak Bites Appetizer

Steak Bites Appetizer

  • 1 tbsp oil (we recommend olive, avocado or coconut)
  • 1 1/2 lb steak cut into bite size pieces–we recommend sirloin, strip loin, tenderloin, strip steak or rib eye. If you’re in a hurry, we’ve used beef shaved steak–we just didn’t add extra salt when cooking
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

For the sauce:

  • 2 tbsp butter unsalted
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

To Garnish:

  • 1 tbsp parsley fresh chopped or 1/2-1 tbsp dried parsley

In a skillet, add the oil. Heat the oil to high heat. Once oil is hot, add the steak pieces and sprinkle salt and pepper evenly over the steak.

Cook the steak on high heat for 2 minutes (do not stir the steak pieces during the first 2 minutes of cooking time). Allow the steak to get a nice sear on it. Stir the steak and cook an additional 2 minutes, or until the meat is a nice golden brown color. (Your total cooking time for the steak bites from start to finish will be about 4-6 minutes).

Pour the cooked steak bites onto a plate. Turn the heat on the skillet down to medium, then add the butter. After the butter has melted, add the garlic and red pepper flakes. (The red pepper flakes are optional and do add some heat to the steak). Cook until the garlic has turned a nice golden brown (about 30 seconds-1 minute of cooking time).

Pour the garlic butter mixture over the steak bites and toss to coat. Sprinkle the steak bites with fresh or dried parsley to garnish.

Suggested Sides: We served our steak bites over rice. I’ve also had these over zucchini noodles–so good! We also think garlic bread sounds good, mashed potatoes, noodles, whatever! You could also serve them plain on their own as party appetizers.
