I cannot believe how busy our family has been! Simple meals like this crisy honey garlic chicken tenders came to the rescue the other night when some impromptu visitors came over armed with precalculus homework.
Precalculus. ick. My daughter is taking that class this year and the other day she came bounding in the house from tryouts only to mention her friends were coming over to work on homework together. I told her I was prepping dinner and asked if they were going to be hungry.
“Of course!” she replied.
Normally I would get a little irritated at her lack of telling me beforehand, but this time of year I tend to roll a little with all the changes.
With one son playing high school football, me teaching junior high cross country, my daughter starting practices for her first school play and my other daughter disappearing to her friends and bringing home friends it’s a crazy crazy fall.
But I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I do however need to adjust our weeknight meals to simpler, easier meals.
Is this meal allergy friendly?
Absolutely, this is definetely one of the easier meals to make allergy friendly. I could use my dairy free, gluten free chicken nuggets while the kids had their regular flour filled batches of crispy chicken tender goodness. I’m not jealous at all.
What type of crispy chicken tenders do you recommend using?
This brand of crispy chicken tenders are readily available at most grocery stores. Perdue is one of my go to for natural crispy chicken tenders. And Tyson Naturals now carries a gluten free crispy chicken tenders.
How long will this recipe take to make? I don’t have much time.

We got them on our trip to Mexico this summer. i got them in Mazatlan. But I also found a few online stores that sell the same things for a little bit more.
Easy Weeknight Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken Tenders
- 1 bag (approximately 26 oz) crispy chicken tenders
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2-3 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1-2 tbsp Frank’s hot sauce (use 2 for a really spicy kick and 1 for a subtle hint of spice)
Cook crispy chicken tenders according to package directions. (We recommend air frying or oven baking them for crispiness. The microwave will not make the chicken crispy). While the chicken is cooking, prepare the sauce. In a pan set to medium heat on the stove, stir the garlic and oil together, cooking on medium heat for 30 seconds to one minute. Add the honey, soy sauce, pepper, and Frank’s hot sauce. Bring the mixture to a boil on medium-medium high heat than turn the heat down to low and allow mixture to cook for approximately 3 minutes. Set the mixture aside.
Remove the chicken from the oven, then coat the chicken in sauce. Serve with vegetables, fries and/or chips.
