    A Man Style Taco Salad

    June 13, 2013 by burntapple 3 Comments

This taco salad recipe is unlike any you will ever eat.

    It's the ultimate man food.

And it's made in the ultimate man way. One bowl. Under twenty minutes.

Hope you're hungry, because when you make man food, you make enough for an army. This taco salad is outrageously good! But there is one thing you must do when making this recipe. You must make it with fritos. There is a reason for that.

    Yield: 4-6 servings

One bowl. Twenty minutes. Great tasting taco salad. It's man food at it's best.

    Ingredients

    • 1 pound ground beef or 2-3 chicken breasts, cooked and cut into pieces
    • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning
    • 1 cup sour cream
    • ¼ green salsa (or to taste, see note)
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    • ½ head iceberg lettuce, shredded (or one bag shredded lettuce)
    • Fritos corn chips

    Instructions

    1. In a pan set on medium heat, brown the ground beef. When meat is cooked and no longer pink, remove pan from heat. Drain fat, then place meat back in pan and onto heat.
    2. Pour ¼ cup water into the pan along with the taco seasoning. Stir until taco seasoning is mixed well with the beef or chicken and water has fully evaporated from the pan.
    3. Pour the meat into a large bowl. Stir in the sour cream and green salsa. At this point you will want to taste the mixture and make sure it is spicy enough. If not, add a little more green salsa, then stir and taste. (This is an essential part of making man food).
    4. Stir in the cheddar cheese, mix until fully incorporated.
    5. Stir in the shredded lettuce, coating the lettuce completely in the mixture.
    6. Crush desired amount of Fritos and toss with the salad, coating the chips with the mixture. Scoop out desired amount of taco salad into bowls.

    Notes

    * My wife and I disagree on this, but this recipe tastes so much better with Fritos. She uses some healthy chip thing, but Fritos are better. * Some meals you can save for later, this meal is NOT one of those. You will want to eat it within a few hours, otherwise the lettuce shrivels and the chips become soggy. This is definetely one of those make it then eat it NOW meals.
