    Chinese Green Bean Beef

    February 21, 2013 by burntapple 1 Comment

According to my husband, I do not post enough beef recipes. Since I'm not a huge meat eater, beef recipes are few and far between on this site.

My husband says I need to apologize and change that.

    I'm sorry.

And now I have a Chinese green bean recipe that will make you hungry!

    green bean recipe

This Chinese green bean recipe is packed with beef, rice, green beans and a little bit of heat with chilies.

We served our green beans with some fortune cookies too. I really can't remember what mine was, but usually I'm going to strike it rich or go on a nice vacation. I'm still waiting for that to happen, so in the meantime grab your fork and dig in.

    Chinese Green Bean Beef

This restaurant style Chinese green bean recipe makes takeout a thing of the past

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups rice cooked
    • 1 pound flank steak cut into thin strips
    • 1 pound green beans
    • 3 tbsp garlic chopped
    • 3 tbsp ginger chopped
    • 6 green onions white parts only
    • 3 tbsp dark soy sauce
    • 3 tsp light soy sauce
    • 1 ½ tsp granulated sugar
    • ¾ cup canola oil
    • 8-12 dried chilies
    • 3 tbsp Chinese rice wine
    • 1 ½ tsp sesame oil

    Instructions

    1. Wash the green beans, drain. Cut the beans into slices approximately two inches long.
    2. Chop the garlic, ginger, and green onions. Set aside. In a small bowl, stir together the soy sauces and and sugar. Set aside.
    3. Heat the pan (or wok) over medium heat until pan is hot. Pour two tablespoons into the pan and swirl the oil around.
    4. When the oil gets hot, add the green beans. Cook for 7-10 minutes until beans are cooked thoroughly.
    5. Remove the beans from the wok and set aside. Add two tablespoons of oil, swirl the oil around in the pan and then add the ginger, garlic, and onions. Stir fry for a few seconds then add the dried chilies and cook for a few more minutes until chilies become fragrant.
    6. Add the beef to the wok and cook until the beef changes to a browned color. Drizzle the rice wine over the meat while cooking.
    7. Add the green beans and sauce to the pan. Stir in the garlic, ginger and onions. Remove from the heat and toss with sesame oil. Serve over cooked rice.
    8. Variation: Use regular low sodium soy sauce in place of using two different soy sauces. Use white wine instead of rice wine.
