These delicious cadbury cream cupcakes may look great, but are actually april fools day cupcakes in disguise! You won't believe what we use for the center!
April Fool's Day falls on a funny day. It's right before Easter.
It's hard to trick people on April Fool's Day unless you fool them with a little Easter involved. No one questions that.
I told the kiddos I was creating a last minute Easter cupcake and they didn't even question trying it. Until they found out what the true Cadbury cream filling really was.
On the outside it's really just a cupcake. I used this recipe because I made some donuts I'm bringing down for my niece next week and used up some of the extra batter.
Inside each cupcake is a delicious center that mimics the real inside of a Cadbury cream egg center. But it tastes NOTHING like one!
And sorry Cadbury, but my kids will probably never actually try a Cadbury cream egg after this. But it was fun watching their faces!!
Ingredients
- Chocolate cupcakes, cooled.
- Mayonaise
- Mustard
- Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
Instructions
- Use a cupcake corer, or cut out of the center of each cupcake with a knife.
- Fill each cupcake center with a little bit of mayonaise and mustard. (We put our mayonaise and mustard in Ziploc bags and snipped off the corner of each Ziploc bag to fill the cupcakes)
- Top each cupcake with chocolate frosting.
I think I would have a small riot in my house if I served these up! lol
