    Gluten Free Chicken and Waffles

    Delicious gluten free chicken and waffles with a sweet and spicy sauce, crispy chicken and liege waffle! You only need four ingredients to make this simple and easy recipe! (Gluten free, dairy free, egg free, nut free, soy free)

    "chicken and waffles? not to be confused with chicken and waffle fries."

    Once upon a time in the 1930's, Sammy Davis Jr, and Nat King Cole (jazz legends) visited Harlem, New York and ate at a place called Well's supper club. One of their favorite eats? Waffles with chicken on top. In the 1970's a place called Roscoe's brought chicken and waffles to Hollywood and from there chicken and waffles became a popular eat!

    Chicken and waffles can be served with many different sauces. Today's recipe is a sweet and spicy honey sauce but other delicious chicken and waffle sauces include:

    • Maple syrup
    • Honey butter sauce
    • Sriracha honey sauce
    • Spicy maple sauce
    • Maple gravy
    • Country gravy
    • Honey cinnamon butter
    • Bourbon sauce
    • Herb gravy

    The chicken you use is important! You want a nice crispy chicken strip to place on top of the waffle. We like Tyson Natural Gluten Free chicken strips.

    There are plenty of gluten free waffles on the market and available in stores but the classic belgian or liege waffle is the most recommended and best way to go!

    Gluten Free Chicken and Waffles with Honey Sauce

    Ingredients
      

    • 4 whole gluten free crispy chicken breasts
    • 4 whole gluten free belgian waffles
    • ¼ cup honey
    • ⅛ cup hot sauce

    Instructions
     

    • Cook chicken and waffles according to package directions.
    • While the chicken and waffles are baking, stir together the hot sauce and honey.
    • Place the chicken on top of the waffle. Drizzle honey sauce over the waffles. Serve warm.

    I've been making over recipes since I was ten. Back then I wasn't so great at it and created everything from rubber cakes for my Dad's birthday to rock muffins that put a hole in the wall.

    Diagnosed with colitis ten years ago and with three young children I had to learn to cook. But life was busy and there wasn't a lot of time to cook or figure out what I could eat!
