I've made mention on this website before that each year with the kids I do something with them that they love to do. (But...I don't). Camping and horses are those two things. My kids LOVE those things. For the past several years my son has been telling me that I need to up my camping game from one day to two days. Overnight is just not long enough anymore.
Which means I needed to find a place that I could take the kids camping for a weekend trip, not just somewhere nearby. I haven't seen much of Utah since living here and I've heard that if you are looking for a good weekend camping trip , hiking Arches National Park is the perfect camping and hiking trip with kids.
But...I didn't want to take the kids down there by myself to somewhere I've never been and just "wing it." I didn't want to hope that I found the perfect campsite or that we were on decent trails for my five year old. So I packed up and went to Arches for an overnight trip to check it out before taking the troops. Going prepared is key.
We hit both primitive and groomed trails. We hit every trail in the park. We packed in a good 15 miles that day and now I've got the plan for the kids camping trip this summer.
the hiking was so much fun. It's hard to find a national park that has such amazing archictecture. Look at those rocks!!
As you can see the weather was a little windy. And warm and windy if the sun was out, but chilly and windy if a cloud cover came over or you were hiking in the morning or shade. So I wore a jacket most of the day.
I was glad that I got out but getting out the door was tough. I have a lot on my plate right now and trying to get the kids all packed for their weekend with their Dad I ended up with a whole 10 minutes to pack for this trip. Luckily the day before PACT Organic sent me some clothing to try. My head reminded me of all the times I've tried new hiking boots on 20 mile hikes or new running clothes for a half marathon lengthed run. I kept reminding myself that I might be very, very sorry I did this. But time said, 'put the clothes in. It's time to GO!!"
So I did and I am so glad that I did. I was outfitted head to toe by PACT Organic. I was so comfortable the entire day. The jacket was the perfect fit and adjusted nicely for the weather. The leggings were nice and fitted to my legs making climbing and walking comfortable. The jacket and leggings were so soft! So soft! I wear my jacket all the time. it's perfect for this time of year.
