    Japanese Tamago, Gohan, Chōmiryō Dish

This Tamago, Gohan, Chōmiryō Dish recipe is a sponsored collaboration with Mizkan and the Forward Influence Network. However, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This Tamago, Gohan, Chōmiryō Dish recipe which features Mizkan Natural Rice Vinegar and Mizkan Mirin brings back to many childhood memories. Growing up, my best friend’s mom could be found in the kitchen cooking up dumplings, rolling sushi or placing a bowl of hot rice or ramen down in front of us to eat as we came home from school.

Having a best friend whose Mom was Japanese meant from a young age that I would be exposed to some pretty authentic Japanese fare.

My first sleepover I was served a bowl of rice for breakfast. My friend started to sprinkle seasoning and dried fish on her rice. As a little six year old who had had cereal and milk her entire life growing up, I didn’t even know what to do or say. I had never had anything look at me while I was eating it!

As I grew older, my friends parents would invite me to dinner with her family every week. We often ate out at traditional Japanese restaurants with plates of beautiful sushi and flowers. My friend started popping some of the flowers in her mouth. She invited me to try, and when I went to try a pretty looking flower, my friend and her Mom started laughing when they watched my face.

Even though the tradition, culture and food taught me a lot of interesting things through the years, it also taught me an appreciation and love for it too.

One of my favorite recipes is a simple traditional Japanese meal that you can make at home. If you are looking to elevate the flavor of this dish, I highly recommend using Mizkan Natural Rice Vinegar and Mizkan Mirin. Mizkan Mirin is a Japanese staple with a tasty trio of sweet, sour and bitter, while offering a perfect accent to any dish. Learn more about Mizkan Mirin here http://bit.ly/MizkanMirin. You can use Mizkan as a  homemade teriyaki sauce, for braised meat and vegetables, tuna poke, miso ramen soup, and stir-fried udon noodles. Mirin contributes the tangy, rich flavor and shine to dipping sauces, broths, marinades and glazes.

It pairs well with Mizkan rice vinegar too. Mizkan makes cooking and enjoying authentic Japanese recipes at home easily accessible. When it comes to composing genuine Japanese-inspired dishes for your family, Mizkan sauces and vinegars bring the flavor of Japan to your table. Mizkan vinegars and sauces are the secret ingredients to help you easily create Japanese foods and flavors at home.

Mizkan is the #1 Rice Vinegar brand in Japan*, which has only recently been launched in the U.S. Mizkan Natural Rice Vinegar is versatile enough to use in hot or cold dishes to enhance flavors. Learn more about Mizkan Natural Rice Vinegar here: http://bit.ly/MizkanNaturalRiceVinegar

Rice vinegar can be used in place of harsher tasting vinegar varieties with flavorful results. Go to http://bit.ly/WhereToBuy_Mizkan to find where to buy any of Mizkan vinegars and sauces.
