Looking for a unique Mary Poppins gift ideas? These Miss Andrew Mary Poppins gift ideas from the Broadway version of Mary Poppins may just melt Miss Andrews heart! (Maybe).
I had every intention of posting a new recipe but the weekend got away from me and now its another week. So it's backwards this week. What I WOULD HAVE posted Thursday is being posted today.
My "big" little girl is now grown up and played Miss Andrew in her last large production at her school. I have gotten into the tradition of NOT giving flowers at her productions. I wanted to do something different as her parent to show her I was proud of her and give her something she would remember from each play.
(I also apologize to everyone that gave her flowers that half a dozen flowers are still currently sitting in her car from this weekends performances).
When she performed in Pirates of Penzance she got a chocolate rose. When she performed in Once on This Island, I got her a pineapple. Since it's her last performance I wanted to do something a little different. In addition to playing Miss Andrew, she was also required to be in a few of the dance numbers so I made sure to include some of those in her gift.
If you are looking for the perfect Miss Andrew Mary Poppins gift, here are some fun ideas!
Miss Andrew Mug:
Take an inexpensive dollar store mug and use some oil based Sharpie paint markers to design the mug. Once you've finished your design, you'll need to set the design. To set the design, place the mug in a COLD oven and heat to 450 degrees. Set your timer for 30 minutes from the time you place your mug in the oven and start to warm it. After 30 minutes, turn off the oven, (DO NOT OPEN THE OVEN!) and let the mug sit for 15 minutes. Then crack the oven open and allow the mug to continue to cool for at least two hours or overnight. (Note that the colors of the paint may change after baking). For a longer tutorial and other mug ideas, we suggest using some of these DIY Personalized Mug ideas from Jennifer Maker.
Brimstone and Treacle
The classic song "Brimstone and Treacle" comes to life with this fun collectable pin. We found ours here on Etsy for $3!
Black and Silver/Gray Gumballs
Since my daughter was in the "Steppin' Time" tap dance, we made our gumballs 'chimey sweep gumballs' but you could do something Miss Andrew themed like 'heart of coal' gumballs or something similar. I first found the idea on the Mary Poppins Themed Party post on the This Grandma is Fun website.
Materials: Black, Silver, Gray gumballs from Zurchers bulk candy.
Something Miss Andrew themed that would also be cute would be to give some chocolate coal. Miss Andrew certainly wouldn't be getting anything NICE from Santa. So a lump of coal would certainly suffice.
Materials: Palmers Chocolate Coal
Miss Andrew commanded a hefty price tag for her nanny services. "Tuppence a Bag" is certainly required for a nanny of her caliber. We filled our tuppence bag with chocolate coins and Werther's Caramels. The Rolos never made it--the other kids got to them first. 🙂
We threw a fun Mary Poppins themed lollipop in since my daughter was also in the song "Jolly Holiday." But that is entirely up to you--Miss Andrew certainly would not be caught with something quite so--colorful!
Materials: Lollipop from Zurchers
