Natural Kool Aid lip gloss is a fun, inexpensive gift for Christmas presents or birthday party favors. Made with all natural ingredients!
My youngest is our YouTube craft program watcher. I've mentioned her "crafting" skills many, many, many times on here and Instagram.
She saw a recipe for Kool Aid lip gloss and she thought--hmm...I can make this SO easy! "MOOOOOOOOM!! Come look at what I saw on YouTube!"
Those words usually mean a trip to the craft store is coming. She browses the craft store like kids her age browse the aisles of the toy store.
She has come up with some ingenious ideas though and this one was one of her best. She gave them to her friends as Christmas presents, but we think you could probably give them away as birthday favors too!
We found our jars at Amazon.com. They are sample jars, and we used them to make some cute peppermint sugar facial scrubs for a women's center service project we did last week .
We are also excited because my daughter and I made our first YouTube video! We showed how simple and easy these are to make. It's a little rough...and in playing it back I sounded like my daughter was driving me crazy, but really I was trying to watch her around the hot coconut oil so I was distracted thinking of what to say, what the steps were and watching her. There's a first for everything so we'll get better! Promise!
And you will totally love this recipe because it only uses three ingredients!
Ingredients
- 1-2 tbsp coconut oil
- Sugar, to taste
- 4 sticks all natural kool aid style drink sticks (we used True Lemon and True Lime) You could also use a few drops of essential oils.
Instructions
- In a small microwaveable bowl, place 1-2 tbsp of coconut oil, 4 sticks all natural kool aid style drink mix. Microwave for 90 seconds. Remove from oven, stir to combine. Add sugar to taste and stir for several minutes until sugar is dissolved. If mixture cools before sugar dissolves, place in microwave and microwave for 20-30 seconds, then stir to combine.
- Once mixture is well dissolved, pour mixture into 5 gram jars. Leave jars open for approximately one hour to allow mixture to cool and harden.
- Place top on and decorate jar.
This looks like a fun project to do with your kids, I love it! A few years ago, my lips decided they did not like the regular waxy lip balms so now I use only vaseline or lip glosses. I'll have to give this a try.
I bet those lip glosses smell so good. I am kind of picking when it comes to lip glosses and chap stick. I do not like sticking my finger in the jar. I like rolling it on my lips with the stick. But these would make a perfect inexpensive gift. Great idea!
You can get sticks and fill them at Hobby Lobby and they work just like the twist ups that you buy at the store!!
That is a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
This is so cool! This would work perfect for a gift my kids could make for their cousins. Thanks for the great (easy) recipe!
What a fun idea! I love this and I love homemade personal care products!
Thank you so much for linking up with Live Life Well! Hope to see you again next week!
