    New Years Tree

    December 31, 2013 by burntapple 5 Comments

Turn your Christmas tree into a New Years Tree It's a simple and easy way to transition into NYE with just a few simple and inexpensive changes. This is a fun way to change your Christmas decor into a New Year Eve celebration.

How to Make a New Years Eve Tree

This year we opted to get our tree the day before Christmas Eve. As we pulled into the tree lot, the attendants were loading up trees to head to the wood chipper. Our tree stood out to us. It was so pretty and still in great shape. It retailed for $80 and we got it for $20. But I've hated to throw it away so soon after Christmas so when I saw the idea of a New Year's tree, I was sold.

Last night the kids took down the ornaments and after they went to bed I quickly threw a few streamers across the tree.

We put up a Happy New Year sign I printed off the internet, and placed a few poppers in the tree.

When the kids wake up tomorrow morning they will see a beautiful morphed tree! And I will love it because most of the things in the tree can be taken off and used.

My other problem has been scrapbooking. So inside the tree I tucked a paper that they can write down some of their memories of 2013 in. It also has a place for us parents to write a few thoughts. I also listed some of our notable family memories from the year. Hopefully this will help me catch up  a little bit with scrapbooking.

    Decorations

If you want to decorate your tree, there are many fun and creative ideas for ornaments and decorations you can use. Here are some things you can put in a New Year's tree:

    1. Metallic or glittery ornaments: Add some shine to your tree with silver, gold, or other metallic-colored ornaments. You can also use ornaments with glitter or sequins to make your tree sparkle.
    2. Clock or countdown decorations: Since New Year's Eve is all about counting down to midnight, you can add clock or countdown-themed decorations to your tree. Look for ornaments shaped like clocks, hourglasses, or countdown numbers.
    3. Snowflakes: Snowflakes are a classic winter decoration that can work well on a New Year's tree. Look for white or silver snowflake ornaments, or create your own by cutting out snowflakes from paper or white felt.
    4. Party hats and horns: Get your tree in a festive party mood by adding miniature party hats and horns as decorations. You can find small versions of these items at party supply stores.
    5. Confetti or streamers: For a fun and colorful touch, add confetti or streamers to your tree. You can either sprinkle confetti around the tree base or attach streamers to the branches.
    6. lights: Finally, to create a cozy and wintery atmosphere, add some lights to your New Year's tree. You can use string lights or small LED lights to create a warm glow on your tree.
    7. Time Capsules or looking back journal notes
    8. balloons: balloons always add a fun and festive time to any occasion!

f you want to take down your Christmas tree but still want to decorate for the New Year, you can create a New Year's Eve or winter-themed display using other decorations, such as wreaths, garlands, and lights. You can also incorporate other elements, such as balloons or confetti, to create a festive atmosphere.

    New Years Eve Meals

Don't forget the meals! We love these winter mocktails or non alcoholic champagne jello shots.

What a great idea - I love the balloons, streamers, crackers and something for children/adults to fill out. This just might encourage me to leave my tree up a little longer. Thanks for sharing. Visiting from Lovely Ladies Linky...

I love your tree! I did the same thing! I put away my Christmas decor and added all of the colored winter items (snowflakes, small ornaments, silvery wreath) to change it up into New Years mode! I'm sharing that post tomorrow! Great minds think alike! Found you via the Lovely Ladies Linky Party! Happy New Year!
