Today you are being introduced to our family's favorite dessert. This dessert is addicting. Really addicting. It's also a great dessert that's easily adaptable and great for serving at summer outdoor parties as it will feed a large crowd.
S'mores graham cereal squares need to go on your must make list. I was introduced many, many years ago to this recipe when a coworker brought it to one of our Sunday lunch potlucks. Sundays were tough at work. You were just exhausted and tired. Family and friends came into visit patients so the mornings were usually really busy and the afternoons were dead. Twelve hours could drag by--or they could be insanely busy if they were filled with patients coming back from emergency surgeries. Potlucks would help a hard day or a slow day at work.
This recipe is easily adaptable for you. I've made notes for you on the recipe. This is one recipe NO ONE should have to live without.
Ingredients
- ⅔ cup honey
- 12 oz semi sweet chocolate chips (can substitute Enjoy Life dairy free if needed)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 7 cups honey graham cereal (you can use Golden Grahams or a healthier version--Mom's Best Honey Graham)
- 2 cups miniature marshmallows (can substitute Dandies marshmallows for a healthier version)
Instructions
- Lightly grease a 9x13 inch pan.
- In a large saucepan, place the honey. Bring to a boil, boil for one minute. Remove from heat and stir in the chocolate, stirring until chocolate is melted. Stir in the vanilla.
- Gradually fold in the cereal until the cereal becomes coated in the chocolate mixture. Fold in the marshmallows.
- Pour, then press the cereal into the pan evenly. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes, or allow pan to sit for a couple of hours until chocolate is set. Cut creal into 24 squares. Serve.
Notes
*Each square has approximately 32 carbs.
