My husband and I have always been intrigued about about using solar power for our home. We have several friends who have made the switch and they often comment how nice it is not to have to write out that utility check every month. We've been interested in making the switch and today we're answering some questions about going solar.
Q: Is It Expensive?
It's always nice to get the elephant in the room out of the way. The most common question (and yes, it was OUR first question too) is the price. Good news is solar power has become much more affordable in year's past. As in, one customer said he spent as little as $1,000 to get started, others may have hinted at $0 to get started. That's a big difference from old systems that cost thousands of dollars.
Q: So Just How Do You Get Solar So Cheap?
Fine. To get the other elephant out of the room, you actually lease instead of buy your solar. In the past, you would have to buy and maintain your own solar equipment which could cost upwards of tens of thousands of dollars and leave you stuck when it came to repairs. Now you can lease your equipment and pay for only the electricity you produce. You have a company that will maintain your solar panels and equipment for you.
Q: What Are the Benefits of Solar Power?
There are tons of benefits, namely the amount of money you will save on your yearly electricity bills. It's also a great way to help our envirornment and save energy resources. In fact, with some of the great tools that Sunrun has, you can see how much you save with a click of the mouse or a tap of your smartphone.
Q: Will the Panels Look Terrible on my House?
No! In fact, looking at the picture above, solar panels can be placed discreetly on the backside of your home still allowing your home to look great from the front depending on where the location you receive the most sun is. There are plenty of options. When I went to the Sunrun website and typed in my address, it showed me examples of how my home would look with solar panels on it. There are a variety of different options.
Q: How Do I Get Started?
Head to the website and request a quote. Once there, a representative can talk to you about the different options your particular home has for using solar power. We even have a special offer for Burnt Apple readers. If you go solar with Sunrun before Nov. 30, you'll get a $500 VISA® Prepaid Card. (Conditions apply.) Get a free solar quote here
