Tastes Like It's HOT Off the Grill Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken: You Have GOT To Try This Slow Cooker Chicken Cooking Technique!

August 5, 2019 by burntapple Leave a Comment

I love using my slow cooker even in the summer. Simple and easy meals are really nice to have on hand as the kids and I go back to school.

But the days are HOT. I love my grill, but my grill sits in the hot afternoon sun (love having an east/west facing house).Trying to my grill in the heat of the day does not sound appealing to me at all during these dog days of summer.

But I'm sad that summer is coming to a close and I don't want to miss out on those last few summer meals.

I found this slow cooker chicken technique to make the most amazing chicken. It tastes like it's hot and fresh off the grill! It takes just a few minutes to throw everything in the slow cooker. A few hours later you've got an incredibly tender, tasty chicken.

When trying to make hot off the grill tasting slow cooker chicken, take some aluminum foil and roll it into balls. Line the bottom of the slow cooker with the tin foil. You want the aluminum foil balls to keep the chicken you'll place on top about 1-2 inches off the bottom of the slow cooker. Then just place the chicken breasts on top to cook and in about 4-6 hours, you'll have delicious taste like it's been grilled chicken! NOTE: We didn't think it made the most tender chicken. That's probably why slow cookers want you to cook the chicken IN the liquid as it cooks. But we loved that the barbeque sauce and seasonings hugged the chicken and formed a really nice, rich layer on top to add to the flavor of the chicken.

Tastes Like It's HOT Off the Grill Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken

  • 4-6 chicken breasts
  • 1-2 tbsp steak seasoning
  • 1-2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 cup barbeque sauce (we used Stubb's)

Roll balls of tin foil and place at the bottom of the slow cooker. You want the tin foil balls to keep the chicken about 1-2 inches off the bottom of the slow cooker.

Place the chicken breasts on top of the tin foil. Sprinkle chicken with steak seasoning and brown sugar, then evenly spread the barbeque sauce over the top.

Cook chicken for 4 hours on high or 6 hours on low. Serve warm with suggested sides like baked beans, mashed potatoes, twice baked potatoes, salad, watermelon and/or green beans. You can spoon additional liquid from the bottom of the slow cooker over the chicken if desired.
