I wait all year to say this. Summer is HERE!!!
This turkey burger reminds me of a chicken burger that I have had a couple of times. It is delicious and pretty easy to throw together. It's a wonderful tasting teriyaki flavored burger that pairs well with a slice of swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and a whole grain bun.
Yes, summer is here and it's time to enjoy that outdoor grill.
Turkey Teriyaki Pineapple Swiss Burger
Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground turkey (you can substitute buffalo or lean ground beef)
- 4 pineapple rings
- 2 cups teriyaki sauce (organic or gluten free okay)
- 4 slices swiss cheese
- 4 hamburger buns (for gluten free use gluten free buns)
- 4 tomato slices (optional)
- 4 leaves lettuce (optional)
- Mayonaise
Instructions
- With your hands or a hamburger press, form four patties.
- Pour one cup of the teriyaki sauce into a square sized container. (We used a square covered Tupperware container). Place the hamburgers in the container and allow to marinate in the refrigerator for thirty minutes to one hour.
- Remove the patties and place on the grill over medium to high heat. Brush with additional teriyaki sauce. While the patties are cooking, place the buns on the grill inside out to toast. Place the pineapple rings on the grill and grill for approximately one minute on each side. Brush with teriyaki sauce on each side.
- When the burgers are done while still on the grill place a piece of cheese on top to melt.
- Move the burgers onto the buns, then place the lettuce, tomato, pineapple and mayonaise. Top with additional teriyaki sauce if desired.
