Are you terrible at cooking steak? Not anymore you're not! This method for cooking steak will redeem your faith in making steak again! Best part is nobody will know you've actually cooked your steak backwards! (Gluten free, dairy free, soy free, nut free, FODMAP)
Remove your steaks from the refrigerator and allow to come to room temperature (approximately 15-20 minutes)
Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Arrange steaks on a wire rack over rimmed baking sheet. Bake at 250 degrees until steak reaches 10-15 degrees below your desired finished cooking temperature. (For example, if you want well done steaks which are finished cooking at 160 degrees, you will remove steaks from the oven at 150 degrees). Remove from oven.
Heat skillet to high heat. for a cast iron skillet, heat one tablespoon of oil in pan so steaks will not stick to the pan. Place steaks from the oven to the pan. Brown on both sides until steak reaches desired finished temperature. Remove from heat and serve.
