Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it lightly with butter or cooking spray.
In a large mixing bowl, add the self-rising flour.
Cut the cold butter into small cubes and add them to the flour.
Using a pastry cutter or fork, cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. You can also use your fingers to rub the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the milk.
Stir the mixture until it just comes together and forms a soft dough. Be careful not to overmix.
Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each biscuit.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top and cooked through.
Remove from the oven and serve warm with butter, jam, or your favorite toppings.
