ingredients
powdered sugar
This adds a little bit of sweet to your drink. you can opt for a sugar free powdered sugar if you want just know it may alter the taste of your drink a little bit.
cocoa powder
the base of the drink, cocoa powder gives your hot cocoa it's deep rich flavor. the Alton Brown recipe recommends using ¼ cup dark cocoa powder and 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, but no one seemed to really notice a difference when I just used straight cocoa powder.
you will need some powdered vanilla for this recipe, but it can be hard to find. so I opt to keep it out of my mix when I can't find it in stores and just add a touch of regular vanilla to my mug when it's done. either way works fine!FIND POWDERED VANILLA HERE
cornstarch and arrowroot powder
both of these ingredients are what will add a little bit of thickness to your drink and bind all your ingredients together in helping to create a nice creamy drink in your mug!
