ingredients

powdered sugar

This adds a little bit of sweet to your drink. you can opt for a sugar free powdered sugar if you want just know it may alter the taste of your drink a little bit.

cocoa powder

the base of the drink, cocoa powder gives your hot cocoa it's deep rich flavor. the Alton Brown recipe recommends using ¼ cup dark cocoa powder and 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, but no one seemed to really notice a difference when I just used straight cocoa powder.

powdered milk

if you are using a non dairy alternative, there are several non dairy powdered milk alternatives on the market.

powdered vanilla

you will need some powdered vanilla for this recipe, but it can be hard to find. so I opt to keep it out of my mix when I can't find it in stores and just add a touch of regular vanilla to my mug when it's done. either way works fine!

cornstarch and arrowroot powder

both of these ingredients are what will add a little bit of thickness to your drink and bind all your ingredients together in helping to create a nice creamy drink in your mug!
