Blended Root Beer Float

Summer is my favorite season. I feel like I have to squeeze in so much because there are so many fun things to do that I love and enjoy and want to have my kids enjoy to. Swimming, hiking, biking, trips to the library, parades and the city fair are all things that we love to do during the summer. Last night the kids and I jumped on the trampoline as a warm rain fell.

One of the best things about summer are the desserts. While I loved our birthday Grilled Doughnuts, a Choco Taco on the backyard patio while typing at night is also a favorite. Sometimes though, just sipping a cool drink on the porch while the dogs play around us and the kids are sleeping in their rooms is just what my husband and I need to relax and unwind after a long day.

While I’m not a big soda drinker, my husband loves the Sonic Blended Root Beer Floats. He loves that it gives you the perfect blend of root beer and ice cream in every sip. This homemade root beer float is top notch!

Blended Root Beer Float

Yield: 1 serving

This root beer float gives you the perfect blend of root beer and ice cream in every sip.

  • 1 cup homemade or storebought vanilla ice cream (We love using vanilla bean)
  • 1/2 cup all natural root beer

  1. Pour the ice cream and root beer into a blender. Blend for thirty seconds to one minute until smooth. Pour into a glass, top with a dollop of whipped coconut cream or whipping cream if desired.

You can use any variety of ice cream you want. We do not recommend using coconut milk ice cream as it changes the flavor of the float too much. Any other type of ice cream (non dairy or not) works well.
