Get the restful night's sleep you deserve! Learn how dairy free moon milk can be your key to healthier, more restorative sleep. Find out its many benefits and how to incorporate it into your nightly routine. (Dairy free, gluten free, nut free, soy free, FODMAP friendly)

    What Is It?

Moon milk is a unique, natural sleep-inducing formula that combines warming herbs and spices to help people achieve a more restful night's sleep. In addition to aiding in relaxation and promoting feelings of sleepiness, consuming it may offer other benefits to the body like improving digestion and reducing inflammation.

Did your parents ever feed you warm milk as a child? Mine did! But I don't think they realized how much I HATED drinking it! It hurt my stomach a lot! Once I realized it was the milk, switching to dairy free helped make it the perfect drink to help me fall asleep!

Moon milk is actually an ancient remedy brewing up a modern sleep success story. It's a comforting nighttime beverage made from a combination of warm plant-based milks, herbs and spices. Typically, moon milk recipes contain relaxing ingredients like ashwagandha root extract, nutmeg, cardamom and cinnamon, with optional additions like honey or ginger to sweeten the flavor.

    Benefits of Drinking Warm Milk

Drinking moon milk can provide a range of benefits, most notably improved sleep quality. It may help reduce the time it takes to fall asleep while also increasing the duration and restfulness of sleep. In addition, moon milk's calming ingredients may work to reduce anxiety symptoms, improve mood and energy levels, support healthy digestion, reduce inflammation in the body and even help with hormone regulation.

Drinking dairy free warm milk may also help if you:

    • Struggle with insomnia
    • Restlessness
    • Mental overactivity

How to Prepare Dairy Free Moon Milk?

Making moon milk is easy and can usually be done in just a few minutes. Start by heating the almond (or other plant-based) milk of your choice with either cinnamon or nutmeg for flavor. Once it's steaming, add some adaptogenic herbs like ashwagandha, tulsi or reishi mushrooms to help support relaxation. Finally, you can also add a teaspoon of honey for sweetness and a tablespoon of coconut oil for added nutrition. Stir it all together and enjoy!

Tips On Making the Most Out of Your Moon Milk Routine

Warm milk is heavy and moist which helps with calming restlessness. Aromatic spices like cardamom, mace, saffron, tumeric, nutmeg and cinnamon may also have sedative qualities as well as stress and tension reducers. Other additions can include ashwagandha and rose petals too.

If you use ashwagandha powder, it is suggested that you only use one teaspoon to one cup water and one cup milk as it can be difficult to digest for some people.

Potential Risks and Side Effects associated with Moon Milk

While drinking moon milk is usually safe, it's important to note that some of the ingredients may not be suitable for everyone. For example, milk and honey have been known to contain allergens, and the herbal ingredients in the milk can interact with certain medications. It's best to speak with your doctor or healthcare provider before attempting any complementary therapies or treatments.

LOVED this. We made it with cinnamon, nutmeg, and turmeric - and a little sweetener, too. Had it before bed last night!
