Where Can I Find The Gold and Silver?
There are several different types of gold and silver you can use to decorate the chocolate medals.
- Gold or silver food spray: This is easy to find at baking stores. We found our food color spray at Michael's. It comes in a spray can. **Just a note: This was rated as the funnest method. The kids loved spraying the gold food spray but were not too fond of the flavor of the food spray. The color will also will rub off on hands when they go to eat it.
- Gold or silver food dust: Like sprinkles, these can be added instead and give a nice textured look to the chocolate medals. **Note: Gold dust may flake off and make for dirty hands!
How to Decorate with Food Spray and Food Dust
- Decorating with Edible Food Spray: Once you allow the chocolate to harden, remove the chocolate from the molds. Spray with edible food spray. Allow food spray to set.
- Edible food dust: To use, pour chocolate into molds. Sprinkle generously with edible food dust. Allow chocolate to set. Remove from molds once chocolate is set. Add additional food dust if needed.
Other Uses:
You can make these fun food medals for the Olympics, parties or pirate parties as gold coin treasure!
