If you’ve ever been to Cheddars Scratch Kitchen, you know their honey butter croissants are a must-have! These warm, flaky croissants are drizzled with sweet honey butter, making them the perfect appetizer or side dish. With this easy 3 ingredient copycat recipe, you can recreate them at home in just a few simple steps! And I'll even show you how to make a gluten free croissant version!

A top-down view of a single, shiny Cheddar's honey butter croissant on a round, white plate featuring black abstract floral and geometric designs. A partial croissant on a wooden board and a grey cloth napkin are visible at the edges, with white orchid flowers in the upper left corner.

These delicious honey butter croissants taste amazing when paired with some chicken and vegetables. I'm excited too because due to some health issues, I eat gluten free while my family doesn't. I found a way that I can even enjoy this recipe too! And if you're worried about having leftovers (which probably won't happen) but if it did you could use any leftover croissants to make croissant French toast.

    Ingredients

The ingredient list is super simple. You will need:

An overhead shot of a yellow package of Schär gluten-free croissants, a bottle of organic honey, and a stick of Land O Lakes salted butter on a light wooden background. The package shows three croissants and the text "You will need: Croissants Honey Butter"
    • Frozen croissants
    • Butter
    • Honey

    Instructions

Yes! It's time to get started. I hope your mouth is starting to water!! Can you taste them?

An overhead shot of three golden-brown croissants on a rectangular red baking pan with white speckles.
    1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Place the croissants on a baking sheet.
A close-up, overhead shot of a red silicone brush dipping into a green bowl containing melted honey and butter. The bowl sits on a light, wood-grain surface.
    1. Step 2: Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 5-7 minutes or until warm.
A close-up, overhead shot of a red silicone brush applying a glaze to a honey croissant on a white plate with black line drawings.
    1. Step 3: While the croissants are warming, melt the butter, than whisk together the melted butter and honey.
A glossy, light brown honey croissant is centered on a white plate with black line art. The croissant has a flaky texture and a reflective glaze.
    1. Step 4: Remove the croissants from the oven and drizzle the honey butter over the croissants. Serve warm.

    Substitutions

Everyone should be able to enjoy this recipe! Here are some easy substitutions you can make:

    • Gluten free: I found some amazing tasting gluten free croissants that I love! They even sell them at my local grocery store.
    • Vegan: You can use some plant based croissants. You will also want to substitute a plant based butter and agave for the honey.
    • Dairy free: To make your recipe dairy free, substitute dairy free butter in place of the butter.

    Variations

You can use frozen croissant dough. I have been able to find frozen mini croissants at Trader Joe's in the past. Cook according to package directions then drizzle with the honey butter.

    Equipment

You will need a bowl to melt the butter and a cookie sheet for baking.

    Storage

Store leftover croissants in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Freezing: For longer storage, wrap croissants individually in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer-safe bag. They can be frozen for up to 2 months.

    Reheating:

    • Oven: Warm at 300°F (150°C) for 5-7 minutes for the best texture.
    • Microwave: Heat in 10-15 second intervals until warm, though they may become softer.

Tip: If reheating, drizzle with fresh honey butter for the best flavor!

    FAQ

Can I use store-bought croissants instead of baking them?

Yes! If you have pre-made croissants, simply warm them in the oven for 5 minutes at 350°F and then drizzle with honey butter.r them here

What can I serve these with?

These croissants are delicious on their own but pair well with soups, salads, or as a sweet side for breakfast.

Can I add extra flavors to the honey butter?

Yes, I love adding a pinch of cinnamon!
