Three Ingredient Gourmet Dog Treats

Three ingredient gourmet dog treats are a perfect treat for your spoiled rotten pooch. With all natural ingredients and flavors your dog will love!

Our dog may be spoiled rotten but since no one can clearly identify what a spoiled rotten dog really is (other than this quiz) I learned I don’t actually spoil my dog.  My results came back as “pampered pup” with the description  “Your pup may not be the highest on the spoil-o-meter, but they are still livin’ large. You want the best of the best for your pup, just within your means. We understand!”

So HA! everyone that says I spoil her. She’s pampered, not spoiled.

This weekend we took her on a waterfall hike. Except that the waterfall was gone. It’s been so dry, hot and smoky here that the waterfall dried up. Instead of hiking over a cool creek to get to the waterfall we ended up hiking over rocks and boulders in a dry creek bed and decided to head home half way through the super hot hike since we knew we weren’t even hiking to a waterfall or through water making the hike unbearably hot.

PS. Don’t ever get ready in your hiking clothes and then forget you have to shoot an email off before you leave. Puppy dog eyes will occur and she will do everything she can to make sure you DO NOT answer that email.

After the disappointing hike, I took her to the bathroom and it ended up being a game of bird dog hide and seek.

Afterwards we went back inside where the fire alarm began to chirp and beep. She did NOT like that sound so she went hiding. We spent several minutes looking for her and then found her under the bed hiding with her favorite toy to comfort her.

Some of these treats definetely helped to make her feel better after the tramatic experiences of the day. No water on a waterfall hike, didn’t catch the bird and then a loud fire alarm. This dog needed a treat or two to feel better.

And with only three ingredients they were a breeze to make! It was a fun activity to do with the kids!

Three Ingredient Gourmet Dog Treats

  • 4 oz container pureed baby food (make sure it is dog safe--we used chicken and sweet potatoes)
  • 1 egg
  • 1- 1½ cups whole wheat flour
  • ¾ cup carob or yogurt coating chips (optional)

  1. In a bowl, stir together the baby food, egg, and flour. You will need to use your hands to knead the dough into a ball. If needed, add water one teaspoon at a time to help the dough form.
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet then set aside.
  3. Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness to use cookie cutters, or roll the dough into ropes to form a pretzel or braid.
  4. Place the treats on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes depending on thickness of cookies.
  6. Remove from oven, allow to cool.
  7. If desired, melt the carob or yogurt chips and dip the cooled cookies. Sprinkle with sprinkles or other dog friendly edible decorations if desired. Allow carob or yogurt coating chips to set before feeding treats.
  8. Store in an airtight container.
