Chocolate is the best. Isn't it? But what is the real scoop on this chocolate trend? Does it melt the same as regular chocolate? Does it taste like real chocolate? If you are new to trying this delicious chocolate here is all you need to know!
What is it?
There are so many brands popping up on the internet advertising low calorie chocolate or low sugar chocolate that we need to dive into what and how they make it!
Truth be told a quick google search told me that there is NO such thing.
But there are a few things I've noticed:
- It often contains more fat
- Its secretive-the process is largely hidden.
Why?
Well, if you are on a low calorie diet, or like me always need a sweet treat before going to bed then a lower calorie chocolate a few nights a week is the perfect solution for those chocolate cravings!
It's also a great alternative for those who are living a low carb lifestyle, may be watching their calorie intake or just enjoy a lower calorie sweet treat.
Brands
There are so many newer brands popping up on the market! There are a couple of brands that you can easily find in health or grocery stores. I've even found some store brand generic brands coming out with lower calorie chocolate chips.
The one brand that's newer on the market is Gatsby Chocolate. I found as of right now I've found them to be the lowest calorie chocolate bar on the market at only 60 calories per serving. I've been able to find it at my local Kroger store but I scored a 50% off discount code that I'm passing onto you!!

Cooking Uses
Yes, I've been able to get the chocolate to melt and act just like regular chocolate when baking or cooking. Sometimes the taste can be alittle bit different than what I am used to, but it still tastes good.
