So this one time I was watching Tik Tok…
And I ended up buying a new air fryer.
Then trying bacon in the air fryer.
And then twisting bacon before cooking it in the air fryer.
Thank you TikTok.

What Air Fryer Should I Use?
When I first married my husband he had a small air fryer that wasn’t cutting it for our family. Like everything we own, the teenagers learned how awesome the air fryer was. But when I used it I had trouble eating anything cooked in the air fryer because gluten crumbs mixed with gluten free crumbs in the air fryer and I ended up with a gluten belly baby after eating anything made in the air fryer.
I’m now in a very large blended family consisting of three dogs, four kids (one a never ending hungry teenager!) and two tired parents, I was looking for the largest air fryer I could possibly find to feed all of us at once. I found the PowerXL double air fryer and I loved that it had two sides to it. Would it work though for my gluten free needs?Power XL Double Air Fryer
One side of the air fryer became dedicated to gluten and the other gluten free. And fries. It’s held up well so far.

Air Fryer or Baked?
Directions are given for baking bacon in the oven in the recipe instructions, however this recipe will mainly focus on using the air fryer for cooking.
What Type of Bacon?
This type of bacon works great with:
- Center cut bacon
- Turkey bacon
- Chicken bacon
- Vegan bacon
- Regular bacon
- Thick cut bacon
Thick cut bacon can be used, the cooking time will just need to be adjusted. But I found it to be extremely hard to crisp. Also note that vegan, turkey and chicken bacon may not crisp like regular bacon does in the air fryer or oven.
Why Did You Twist Your Bacon?
Answer #1: It looks fancy.
Answer #2: According to air frying research conducted by Brandie of the The Country Cook, “twisting bacon results in an even cook of the baon making every bite crisp and delicious. It also keeps the bacon moist due to some of the bacon drippings getting caught in the twist of the bacon.”
I have peer reviewed Brandie’s research and concur. It was amazing!
Also this is a picture of bacon, not a decorative dog poop picture. Thanks son and husband for your artistic interpretation. Also wanted to clarify that as well.
