These bacon flavored crackers are perfect anytime but I love them as a game time treat or serving as an appetizer or snack. They remind me a lot of these steak and chicken bites, or these twice baked potatoes.

    Ingredients

For these delicious bacon flavored crackers you will need:

    • Butter crackers
    • Parmesan cheese (shredded or sliced)
    • Bacon slices
    • Red pepper flakes or other seasoning of choice

    Instructions

    Preheat and prep:

    1. Set your oven to 300°F (150°C).
    2. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper to catch drippings. Place a cooling rack on top.
    3. Thinly slice the parmesan cheese wedge or sprinkle your parmesan cheese to match the width and length of the crackers.
    4. Cut the bacon into fourths, also mimicking the cracker length.

    Assemble and bake:

    1. On each cracker, layer a piece of parmesan, followed by a bacon slice, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes or seasoning (if using). Repeat for all crackers.
    2. Arrange the assembled crackers side-by-side on the cooling rack.
    3. Bake for 35-45 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through. Start checking around the 30-minute mark.
    4. Your crackers are done when the bacon is cooked through and the cracker edges are slightly browned.
    5. Serve your crackers warm or at room temperature.

    Equipment

For this recipe you will need:

    • Parchment paper or aluminum foil
    • Cooling rack
    • Baking sheet

    Substitutions

This recipe can be easily adapted for a gluten free diet. You will just need to substitute butter crackers for gluten free butter crackers. Most of the time they can easily be found at any grocery or health food store.

    Storing

This recipe is best served fresh and hot from the oven. You can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days and reheated for several minutes in a 300 degree oven.

    FAQ

Can I use a different type of cheese?

Absolutely! While sharp cheddar brings a robust flavor, feel free to experiment with other cheeses like Gouda, swiss, or even a cheese blend for a unique taste.

    Can I use homemade crackers?

Yes, homemade crackers work perfectly. Just ensure they are sturdy enough to hold the toppings without crumbling.

Why do the cooking times vary so much?

Depending on your oven, you will need to really watch these crackers after they have been cooking for a certain time. They can go from cooked to overcooked very quickly.
