    Gather and Prepare the Ingredients

Before you can make your delicious funfetti donuts, you'll need to gather and prepare the ingredients. For this recipe, you'll need all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, rainbow sprinkles and vegetable oil. Make sure to measure the ingredients accurately for best results and preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C).

    Make the Donut Batter

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. To that mixture, add eggs one at a time while mixing constantly. Finally, mix in the vanilla extract. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until everything is well combined, stirring in 1 tablespoon of rainbow sprinkles at a time until evenly distributed throughout the batter. Don't overmix!

Bake the Donuts in a Preheated Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a standard 6-cavity donut pan with cooking spray. Drop about 2 tablespoons of the batter into each cavity, making sure not to overfill. Bake for 12–15 minutes until the donuts are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center of one comes out clean. Allow the donuts to cool completely before glazing. Enjoy!

Decorate with Funfetti Frosting and Sprinkles

Once the donuts are cooled, it’s time for the fun part—frosting and sprinkles! In a medium bowl, whisk together 1¼ cup of confectioners' sugar and 3 tablespoons of whole milk until smooth. Add in ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract and food coloring to make your desired color. Dip the top of each donut into the frosting, then let them rest on a cooling rack with parchment paper beneath to catch any drips. Top with sprinkles and you’re good to go! Enjoy!

    Enjoy!

These delicious homemade funfetti donuts are perfect! They are perfect for a sweet start to the day, a special dessert, or even just an afternoon snack. Enjoy and have fun!

    Equipment

    • donut pan optional
    • Mini Muffin Pan
    • saucepan

    Ingredients

    • For Doughnuts
    • 2 ¾ cups homemade Funfetti cake mix
    • ¾ cup buttermilk
    • 2 eggs lightly beaten
    • 2 tablespoon melted butter
    • For the Glaze:
    • 3 cups powdered sugar
    • ⅓ cup milk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla

    Instructions

    • Mix together all ingredients just until combined. Fill greased mini muffin pan or mini doughnut pan approximately ⅔ full. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
    • If using a doughnut maker, bake doughnuts according to manufacturers directions.
    • Remove doughnuts from pan and allow to cool for several minutes before glazing.
    • To make the glaze:
    • In a saucepan, heat glaze ingredients on low heat until mixture becomes warm. While mixture is warming, place a cooling rack close to where you will be working, and place wax paper or tin foil underneath to catch the excess glaze. Dip each doughnut into the glaze, flipping to cover both sides. Lift the doughnut hole or doughnut out of the glaze and allow excess to drip off into the saucepan before transferring the doughnut to the cooling rack. Immediately roll mini muffins in jimmie sprinkles to cover completely, or dip the tops of the mini doughnut holes in jimmies.

    Notes

Store donuts in an airtight container for several days. Donuts can be frozen in an airtight container in the freezer. Thaw to serve.
