    Ingredients

    This recipe for spring roll just needs a few ingredients. For this recipe you will need:

    • Rice spring roll paper
    • Marshmallows
    • Graham crackers
    • Chocolate 

    Instructions

    1. Prepare the Filling: Wash and chop fruits, melt chocolate, or mix cream cheese with sugar as needed. Have all ingredients ready before assembling.
    2. Assemble the Rolls: Lay a spring roll wrapper flat. Place your desired filling in the center. Fold the wrapper’s edges over the filling, then roll it tightly. Seal the edges with a dab of water or egg wash.
    3. Cook the Rolls:
      • Frying: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the rolls until golden brown, turning occasionally.
      • Baking: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through.
    4. Add Finishing Touches: Sprinkle powdered sugar, drizzle melted chocolate, or add a scoop of ice cream for a decadent finish.

    Substitutions

    You can substitute vegan marshmallows and dairy free or vegan chocolate chips if desired.

    Storing

    Store cooked spring rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat them in the oven or air fryer to restore their crispiness. If you are using colored marshmallows, the color may bleed when being stored.

    How do I prepare my spring rolls dessert for filling?

    We usually soak each spring roll for about 15-20 seconds in water then place it on top of a wet paper towel, a cutting board or countertop. We usually fill a pie dish or plate with water. Don’t stress, the spring roll wrapper will still fill a little firm but will soften as it sits. We fill the spring roll up with fillings and then wrap it all up! The spring roll wrappers will get sticky so make sure to not have them touch each other! 

    Help! I used marshmallows and they exploded. What do I do?

    Although extremely rare, this usually happens when not enough room is given inside the spring roll wrapper to allow for expansion. Or the spring roll wrappers were starting to dry out prior to baking and they split during frying or baking. 

    My spring rolls dried out.

     It happens sometimes! But the good thing is you can bring them back to their pliable shape. Just dip the rolls quickly in water and then wipe off the excess. Cover them with a wet paper towel for 1-3 minutes until they soften again. Eat and enjoy or continue with one of the above cooking methods.
