    Ingredients

It takes just 5 ingredients to make this recipe. You will need to grab:

A bowl of salsa with a spoon in it. The salsa is a chunky mixture of chopped red tomatoes, onions, and cilantro
    • Roma tomatoes
    • Yellow onion
    • Jalapeno
    • Cilantro
    • Lime

    Instructions

    • Wash the jalapeño peppers and tomatoes thoroughly.
    • Peel and chop the onion. Chop the cilantro
    • Remove the stems from the jalapeños and roughly chop them.
    • Cut the tomatoes into bite sized pieces.
    • Mix together all ingredients. You can also put them in a blender and pulse blend until your desired consistency is reached.
    • Taste the salsa and add any salt and pepper or garlic powder if needed.

    Substitutions

If you know how to make the recipe fit a certain diet, let the reader know here. Don't fake it - only provide guidance on topics you have actual experience with.

    • Lettuce - instead of ice berg lettuce, you can use romaine lettuce or spinach
    • Bun - use gluten free buns instead of white bread buns to make this gluten free
    • Vegetarian - the beef hamburger can be replaced with a plant-based burger to make this vegetarian

Even if your reader doesn't follow a specific diet (eg. gluten free), they may have friends or family that they're cooking for that could use this. This is also a great idea to link out to another blogger with a similar recipe that fits a different diet.

    Substitutions

This recipe is perfect for serving to almost anyone! It's vegan, gluten free and dairy free!

    Serving

There are many ways you can enjoy this salsa jalapeno recipe! Enjoy it with tortilla chips, tacos, grilled meats, or any other dish that could use a spicy kick.

    Storage

Homemade salsa can typically be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week. Make sure to store it in an airtight container to maintain freshness.

    FAQ

Can I adjust the spiciness of the salsa?

Absolutely! The level of spiciness in the salsa depends on the number of jalapeños you use and whether you include the seeds and membranes. For a milder salsa, remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapeños before blending. If you prefer it extra spicy, leave them in or add an extra jalapeño.

Can I use canned tomatoes instead of fresh?

While fresh tomatoes are preferred for their flavor and texture, you can use canned tomatoes as a substitute if fresh ones aren't available. Just be sure to drain any excess liquid from the canned tomatoes before blending.

Is there a way to make the salsa less acidic?

If you find the salsa too acidic for your taste, you can balance it out by adding a pinch of sugar. Start with a small amount and adjust to your liking.
