First introduced to my kids on a Southwest Airline flight, Shirley Temples have become a popular drink for celebrations and New Year's in our family! (Gluten free, dairy free, vegan, egg free, nut free, soy free)
"Pass the Drinks..."
Imagine being a young actress in Hollywood with the drinks flowing and you...can't have any of them! For Shirley Temple, that was the case. So a bartender made a drink just for the young Hollywood actress that was a beautiful pink color! That is how the Shirley Temple was created!
The great thing is the Shirley Temple mocktail is naturally gluten free and dairy free so it's perfect drink to serve for those with food allergies! (For those with diabetes, scroll down for some of our substitutions!)
Flights and Travel...
For my kids, they were first introduced to the Shirley Temple on a Southwest Airline flight. The kids felt so special when the flight attendants brought them their drink with a heart stirring stick. Now when we travel, one of the places that usually can fit our large family comfortably is Embassy Suites. In the afternoons they usually have afternoon cocktail and snack hours and the employees are so sweet to always make Shirley Temple's for the kids when they come to pick up their snacks.
