What is a Shirley Temple drink? A classic drink with grenadine syrup that gives it it's beautiful red color and a combination of different sodas.

What is a Shirley Temple Drink?

Imagine being a young actress in Hollywood with the drinks flowing and you...can't have any of them! For Shirley Temple, that was the case. So a bartender made a drink just for the young Hollywood actress that was a beautiful pink color! That is how the Shirley Temple was created!

    Flights and Travel

For my kids, they were first introduced to the Shirley Temple on a Southwest Airline flight. The kids felt so special when the flight attendants brought them their drink with a heart stirring stick. Now when we travel, one of the places that usually can fit our large family comfortably is Embassy Suites. In the afternoons they usually have afternoon cocktail and snack hours and the employees are so sweet to always make Shirley Temple's for the kids when they come to pick up their snacks.

    Ingredients

The Shirley Temple is a simple drink that includes:

    • Grenadine: Grenadine is a pomegranate based simple syrup.
    • Lemon Lime Soda
    • Ginger Ale
    • Maraschino Cherry

    Substitutions

Shirley Temples can be full of sugar! But they can be made with much less sugar by making these simple changes:

    • Sugar Free Grenadine Syrup
    • Sugar Free Lemon Lime Soda
    • Sugar Free Ginger Ale
    • Maraschino Cherry (Optional)
