Ingredients
Time to grab a few ingredients and start making this easy basil garlic chicken recipe together!
- CHICKEN BREASTS: You will want to use boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- BALSAMIC VINEGAR: Balsamic vinegar is a dark colored vinegar with a rich robust flavor.
- OLIVE OIL
- BASIL LEAVES: I would use fresh basil leaves for a rich basil flavor
- GARLIC: I always use frozen minced garlic cloves but you can use fresh too.
FODMAP Friendly
To make this dish FODMAP friendly, try using garlic scape powder. It will give you the flavor of garlic in this recipe but without the stomach upset. Use 1-2 teaspoons.

This chicken recipe requires you to first marinade the chicken. To make the marinade, place the balsamic vinegar, basil leaves, oil and garlic in a blender. Blend until smooth.
Place one cup of the marinade into a pan, the cover and place the chicken in the marinade. Marinade for 30 minutes to one hour, turning half way through. Reserve the remaining marinade in the refrigerator in a separate container.
To cook: drain the chicken and discard the marinade in the pan. Grill the chicken or cook on the stovetop on medium heat. Cook for approximately 4-6 minutes on each side, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees. The chicken should be nicely browned.
Grill additional vegetables if desired to serve as a side and serve the chicken and vegetables (if making) with the remaining marinade.
How to Store Chicken
Once cooked, you can store the chicken in an airtight container for several days. Microwave or reheat on stove.
Extra chicken can also be eaten cold. Just cut up the chicken and place in a salad for an easy lunch recipe.
