Today we're making delicious gluten free apple spice donut holes. Fall is getting it's wish with a recipe for five ingredient apple cinnamon donut holes! All you need is applesauce, self rising flour, butter, cinnamon and sugar! Let's get cooking!

But Before We Start, You'll Need This!
This recipe calls for:
- Donut Hole Pan: We use this simple donut hole pan for everything from truffles to pancake bites.
- Self Rising Flour: We have two recipes for self rising flour--our gluten free self rising flour and our keto self rising flour. In a pinch though you can use gluten free bread flour if it contains baking powder.
- Applesauce
- Butter
- Sugar
- Cinnamon
Can I Fry or Air Fry These Instead Of Baking?
Yes!
- FRYING: They taste amazing fried! Simply omit the butter and heat some oil in a frying pan instead. Then fry the donuts in the oil and roll them in cinnamon and sugar.
- AIR FRYING: These also work great too! Just put the dough in the silicone baking molds and place the mold into your air fryer. See recipe for baking instructions.

Five Ingredient Gluten Free Apple Spice Donuts
Dear Pumpkin Spice, Please step aside and allow me a few moments in the spotlight. Sincerely, Apple Spice. Today apple spice is getting it's wish with a recipe for five ingredient apple cinnamon donut holes! All you need is applesauce, self rising flour, butter, cinnamon and sugar! Let's get cooking!
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cup self rising flour
- ⅔ cup applesauce
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cup butter melted
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer or oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease donut hole pan if using and set aside. (For frying, heat one inch of oil in a pan and heat to 350 degrees)
- In a bowl, stir together the flour, applesauce and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon until mixed together into a sticky ball.
- In a separate small bowl, mix together ¼ cup sugar and remaining ½ teaspoon cinnamon then set aside.
- Place ½ tablespoon of dough into each insert of the donut hole pan. (For frying, roll ½ tablespoon of dough into a ball and set aside).
- OVEN BAKE: To bake in the oven, place donut holes into the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until donuts are lightly browned and spring back when lightly pressed. Remove from oven and allow to cool for several minutes before removing from the molds.
- AIR FRY: To air fry, place the donut hole mold into the air fryer and bake for 8-11 minutes or until donut holes are lightly browned and spring back when lightly pressed. Remove from air fryer and allow to cool for several minutes before removing from the molds.
- FRYING: Place approximately half of the donut holes into the hot oil. Cook until one side is browned, then flip and cook the other side until lightly browned. Remove from fryer then immediately roll in cinnamon sugar. Serve.
- Melt the butter. Roll air fried or baked donuts in the melted butter, then roll in the cinnamon and sugar. Serve.
